When Searching by Name

When searching by name, enter EACH of the following formats to ensure all possible forms of the name(s) are found:
  • Enter last name followed by a comma, then first name "Last name, first name"

  • Enter last name (followed by space) then first name "Last name(space)first name"

  • Enter last name only. This will bring up all listings in the computer beginning with that last name.

  • Enter name beginning with "Mc" followed by a (space), then the rest of the name. (for example: "Mc Dougal")

  • Enter name beginning with "Mc" followed by rest of name with no space. (For example: "McDougal")

  • For a business name search, include with and without "The" for those companies which utilize "The" in their company name.

  • For a business name search which utilizes initials for the company name, enter the company name with spaces between the letters as well as without spaces between the letters. (Example: BFI. Enter "BFI"; AND also enter "B(space)F(space)I"

When Searching by Case Number

When searching by case number for civil cases, domestic relations cases, and criminal cases, use numbers only with no letters.
  • Cases filed prior to July 1, 1989, utilize a five (5)-digit case number format.

  • Cases filed from July 1, 1989, to December 31, 1999, utilize a six (6)-digit case number format.

  • Cases filed on or after January 1, 2000, utilize an eight (8)-digit case number format.
    Examples: Prior to July 1, 1989: 52927
    From July 1, 1989 to December 31, 1999: 990001
    January 1, 2000 or later: 20000001

When searching by case number for judgment lien cases, (certificates of judgment, tax commissions ("TC"), or foreign judgments), enter numbers only with no letters, using the following formats:

  • Certificates of Judgment: Volume number followed by the forward slash character followed by a three (3)-digit number (Volume 6 or before) or a four (4)-digit number (Volume 7 or later)
    Example: 6/001 or 7/0001

  • Tax Commissions ("TC"): Four (4)-digit number
    Example: 6000

  • Foreign Judgment: Three (3)-digit number followed by two dashes followed by one number. (The first two numbers denote the year, followed by a zero, 2 dashes, and one number.)
    Example: 040- -1 (representing the first foreign judgment case filed in 2004)
